Madison Co. Sheriff holds first community meeting for ’16

OAKFIELD, Tenn.-Madison County Sheriff John Mehr holds his first community meeting of the near year in Oakfield,  Tuesday night.

The sheriff has been holding these types of gatherings in different areas for month.
He said it is a way for citizens to get together in a small-scale setting and allows individuals the chance to ask questions.

Sheriff Mehr told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News he wants citizens to feel heard and their opinions help him make necessary changes.

“I want them to feel like they had a voice and that we are listening but we want them to hear what we are doing and if there is something we are doing that they don’t like we want to know that,” said Sheriff Mehr.

Dozens of people attended Tuesday night’s meeting. The sheriff holds the meetings in different communities throughout the year.
