Comptroller’s office: 2 men stole from training agency
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) – The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office says nearly half of a law enforcement training agency’s nonprofit funds went to the pockets of two men serving on its board.
The Johnson City Press reports Washington County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Gary Bradley and Robert Hall, a retired Sparta police lieutenant, have been booked on charges including theft of over $60,000 but less than $250,000.
According to a report released by the comptroller’s office Monday, the thefts occurred between 2010 and 2013. The office says the two served as officers for the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Officers Association at the time and had access to the nonprofit agency’s training funds.
According to the report, Bradley accepted checks written to him by Hall that totaled more than $87,000.
It’s unclear if the two have attorneys.
