Workers prepare Oman Arena for Championship Bull Riding

JACKSON, Tenn. — Championship bull riders from all over the country will compete this weekend in Jackson.

BULLRIDINGCrews hauled dirt into Oman Arena on Thursday in an effort to get the space ready for Championship Bull Riding this weekend. “It takes us right at 10 hours to set it up,” Production Manager Chris Rankin said. “The crazy thing is it only takes us about four to tear it down.”

Rankin travels across the country for these competitions and said this is probably his favorite event of the year because of the venue. “It’s kind of cool and unique because there’s not a bad seat in the house and fans are actually right on top of all the action,” he said.

Organizers said thousands of people will pack the arena and that they could have a sellout crowd.

Rankin said Friday night 40 cowboys will saddle up and compete for prize money. “Saturday, we’re going to come back with the top 24 in the world,” he said.

Rankin said the bull riders come from across the country to compete. “They’re just spread out from a little bit of everywhere,” he said.

The event kicks off Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Presale general admission tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event. Kids age six and younger are free.
