Volunteers searching in 1-hour increments for missing toddler

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Chester County Sheriff Blair Weaver says volunteers again will be used in the search for 2-year-old Noah Chamberlin, reported missing since Thursday afternoon.

Weaver said during a brief Monday afternoon news conference that volunteers will be needed again starting at 6 p.m. in the rescue effort for the missing toddler. He said the old Pinson school will open at 5:45 p.m. for volunteers.

Weaver said volunteers will work into the night in one-hour shifts due to the cold weather.

Volunteer organizers say they need neck warmers, lip balm, tissues and snacks at the old Pinson school.

“I have faith, and I believe we’re going to find him,” Weaver said.

He said crews specializing in searching for escaped inmates are helping with the search and that crews also are using sonar and heat detection technology.

When asked if there would be a change in strategy, the sheriff said “we’ll keep doing what we’re doing.”

Noah reportedly went missing around 1:30 p.m. Thursday while on a nature hike with his grandmother and 4-year-old sister in the woods behind their home, according to Tom Mapes, Public Information Officer with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. The grandmother told officers she was paying attention to her granddaughter for a moment and when she looked up, Noah was gone.
