Water quality initiative targets 3 Mississippi watersheds
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture is launching a water quality initiative that will offer financial and technical assistance to farmers and ranchers in three Mississippi watersheds.
The department says in a statement that its voluntary program is designed to provide cleaner water to neighboring residents.
The three watersheds eligible for the National Water Quality Initiative are Chase Bayou in Adams County, Porter Bayou in Bolivar and Sunflower counties, and North Tippah Creek in Benton and Tippah counties.
Applications for program funding during fiscal year 2016 must be received by March 18.
