TDOT crews prepare for winter weather

JACKSON, Tenn.-State crews said they are ready to do what they can to keep roads safe, Tuesday night and into the morning as the snow and ice falls.

Members of TDOT spent the day preparing for this week’s wintry mix as the department stocked all 95 counties with salt and got their snow plows and brine trucks ready.

Road crews say they are on standby around the clock to help keep drivers safe.

“They’ll come in probably about 10 to 11 o’clock tonight and get ready and fill up the trucks. That gives them a chance to go home, eat supper, and spend a little time with their family. They’ll come back out and kind of gear up for everything to come in,” said Michael Welch with TDOT.

For drivers planning their commute Wednesday morning, officials said the best thing you can do is be prepared.
They said give yourself plenty of time and have supplies in your car, in case you run into trouble.
