Wintry mix expected to hit across Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The Tennessee Department of Transportation says it is ready for a forecast that calls for a wintry mix of precipitation to fall across the state.

A statement from the agency says all 95 counties are stocked up with salt, snow plows and brine trucks are ready to roll and employees are set to mobilize to clear roads of snow and ice.

The National Weather Service in Nashville says a cold front is expected to dump snow, freezing rain and sleet across Tennessee beginning early Wednesday.

Forecasters are calling for snow accumulations of 1-3 inches in Middle Tennessee, 1-2 inches in East Tennessee and up to 2 inches in West Tennessee. The forecast also calls for possible ice accumulations across the state.
