Grocery stores prepare for possible Friday snow

BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. — With potentially dangerous snowy conditions in the forecast for parts of West Tennessee later this week, that means many people in the community are flocking to grocery stores.

Local grocery stores like Cashsave in Benton County is working to help keep you prepared.

“We encourage our associates during the winter wont’s to to be watching the forecast and to pay attention to what’s going on,” Owner Paul Crowell said.

Milk, bread and eggs are just a few items Crowell says are essential to surviving this cold weather. He said fruit, produce, meat and potatoes also are items that are drained right before a snow.

Other employees mentioned making sure you keep your car stocked with cat litter, crackers, blankets and socks in case you get caught in the snow on the road.

“And just be sure you have plenty of pet food and all that drinks, and in case your electricity goes out you might need some ice, bagged ice and coolers, things like that,” Crowell said.

Crowell says he expects the majority of people to start prepping for Friday’s snow after lunch on Thursday, so if you want to beat the shopping surge, sticking earlier is better.
