Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards get upgrade

The Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards will have a different format this year.

The TSSAA announced on Thursday that the awards will be presented to the top girls and boys at Middle Tennessee State University’s Murphy Center.

“Having the awards presented on the floor of the site of the Division I state basketball tournament will be special,” stated Bernard Childress, Executive Director of the TSSAA.  “It will be exciting to have all 30 outstanding student athletes recognized together at what we feel will be a great event.”

Prior to the significant change, awards were handed out at the conclusion of the state championship games.

A reception for the finalists and their families will be held prior to the awards presentation on Tuesday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m.

This is the 32nd year that the Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards have been presented to Tennessee’s best high school basketball players.
