JACKSON, Tenn.-State crews are preparing for the winter storm headed towards West Tennessee.

A spokesperson said TDOT will salt Interstate 40 and other heavenly traveled roads starting Thursday night and
crews will also monitor road conditions throughout the night.

A total of 171 trucks will  be out on roads, prepared to clear major roads of snow and ice. A TDOT  ‘help truck’ will also monitor portions of I-40 all day, Friday.

“Our goal is to do as much as pre-treatment, just as much as possible to help kinda give us a head start on pushing things off,” said Michael Welch with TDOT.

TDOT will officially start clearing off roads Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m.
