Drivers brace for icy road conditions
JACKSON, Tenn. — Drivers are doing what they can to stay safe on the roads. Friday’s snow proved kind to most drivers in Jackson. But many fear what is left behind could prove dangerous: ice. Especially black ice. “Sometimes you can’t see it on the ground at night,” said driver Stephen Wilson.
Dangerous road conditions is why the Tennessee Highway Patrol urges people to stay home. However, if you do need to get out, things like jumper cables, blankets and extra supplies are strongly recommended to be kept in vehicles.
Slow driving is also heavily recommended. “Don’t accelerate on curves and try to speed and pass people. Just go with the flow and take it easy. “Don’t accelerate on curves and try to speed and pass people. Just go with the flow and take it easy,” said driver Doug Hinderliter.
Bobby Gilbert who dealt with some slipping streets Friday said you just have to be careful. “You just have to slow down, be careful, my theory is whenever the wheels stop slipping… get off the road.”
