Jackson police tell drivers in minor, non-injury accidents to exchange info, report later

JACKSON, Tenn. — Police are asking people involved in minor, non-injury traffic accidents to exchange information and report the wreck once weather conditions have improved.

Winter Driving SnowWhile it is the Jackson Police Department’s policy to respond to all traffic accidents, snowy and icy road conditions make this impractical, according to a release from the department.

The Jackson Police Department business office is closed Friday due to the inclement weather and will resume normal operations Monday.

Callers reporting minor, non-injury accidents will be advised to exchange names and addresses and come to the police station when conditions have stabilized so that the proper reports can be completed.

The shift commander reserves the authority to decide whether officers respond based on such conditions, according to the release.
