Southern speakeasy goes back in time

DOWNTOWN JACKSON, Tenn. — Hundreds took a trip all the way back to the 1920’s inside a historic downtown hotel.

“This is done in benefit for our community engagement program of the Jackson symphony. So everyone that’s here tonight is supporting the Jackson Symphony and its programs.,” said Jackson Symphony Executive Director Lee Warren.

Screen Shot 2016-01-23 at 8.11.17 PMHeld at the New Southern Hotel in Jackson, this event allows people to have a good time for good cause. This elegant event called the “Southern Speakeasy” is a retro-themed party that features live music and drinks.

“We have a secret room upstairs where people will be able to go into with a little bit of bourbon tasting,” said Warren.

People like Board Director, Nancy McMahon said The Southern Speakeasy also featured a variety of great food. “We’ve got southern food and we’re just excited for something different on a cold January night.”

Unlike previous years where fundraisers were held at places like the Civic Center, the Jackson Symphony decided that it would be a great idea to have a different type of event. This event featured a combination of Southern culture mixed will a 20’s-style feel, held at an elegant hotel. “If people are happy when we do the follow up after tonight, then we will continue to do something along the lines,” said McMahon
