Weakley Co. Youth Coalition learning through ‘Drug & Alcohol Facts Week’
WEAKLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — Local teenagers are making a difference in their community for National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week.
The Weakley County Youth Coalition at Dresden High School met Tuesday to “shatter the myth” that drugs and alcohol are cool.
The Weakley County Prevention Coalition works with the Youth Coalition to help reach high school and middle school students.
“It’s easier to to talk to 8th graders using teenagers,” said Bethany Allen with the Weakley County Prevention Coalition. “They want to listen to their peers and older kids in the school that they look up to, and it is better to talk about alcohol and drugs using them.”
The Dresden Youth Coalition has around 30 students actively involved. The Crossroads Teen Center Coalition is meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Martin.
