Woman accused of assaulting 11-year-old family member

JACKSON, Tenn. — A woman appeared Wednesday in city court on accusations of assaulting an 11-year-old family member.

Estelle Jeffries, 28, is charged with assaulting the family member during an argument, according to court papers.

The alleged victim told police Jeffries cursed at her during an argument and that when she cursed back, Jeffries then began slapping her and pulling her hair.

Another family member who witnessed the incident told police she saw Jeffries jump on the girl while she was sitting on a bed and that it took two people to pull her off.

Jeffries is facing child abuse and aggravated assault charges. She is free on bond.
