Woman injured during early morning home invasion

MEDINA, Tenn. — An armed suspect on the run after an early morning home invasion in Medina, Wednesday.

MEDINA ARMED ROBBERYAfter attacking the victim, officers said the suspect got away with the victim’s cash. The invasion and robbery happened around 3 a.m., sending the woman to the hospital.

In the small City of Medina, where this type of violent crime is definitely not the norm, it has residents a little concerned.

“I grew up here and we didn’t even lock our doors,” Debbie Eddings said. “And that’s how it usually is.”

Little details have been released about what happened inside the home but neighbors said the suspect kicked down the door and pistol whipped the woman inside.

“It’s really sad that someone would come in on someone like that and do what they did to them, especially a woman,” Barry King who lives next door said.

Investigators could be seen looking for evidence near the home Wednesday afternoon, a violent crime that has some shaken.

“I’ve never even been around a gun,” Sondie Capps said. “To think that someone would come around here and try to do anything like that is just crazy.”

For those who live in the area they said they will now check their locks twice until those responsible are locked up.

“My mom lives in the neighborhood, just right down the road,” Eddings said. “It’s just really upsetting because she lives by herself.”
