State officials: Register now to vote in March presidential primary
NASHVILLE — The registration deadline is approaching for Tennesseans who want to vote in the upcoming presidential primary.
Voters must register by Monday, Feb. 1, to vote in the SEC Primary, which will be March 1, according to a release from Secretary of State Tre Hargett’s office.
This election cycle, the Volunteer State is will join six other Southern states on March 1 to help decide who could be the next president of the United States, according to the release.
“It’s important to ensure you are properly registered now so there won’t be any surprises during early voting or on Election Day,” Hargett states in the release.
Early voting begins Feb. 10 and runs Mondays through Saturdays until Feb. 23. Election Day is Tuesday, March 1. Some counties will be closed on Feb. 15 for Presidents Day.
