Crews on scene of deadly I-40 crash; eastbound lanes reopened

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Emergency crews are on scene at a fatal wreck along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near mile marker 90 in east Madison County.

The crash reportedly happened at 2:13 p.m. and involved a tractor-trailer, a passenger vehicle and possibly a third vehicle.

Eastbound lanes near the accident were temporarily closed but have been reopened, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Eastbound traffic previously was being diverted at Exit 87 at Highway 70 as crews worked to clear the roadway of debris.
