Family remembers woman killed in weekend homicide
JACKSON, Tenn. — A family circle serves as a symbol of strength during a time of sorrow. The family of Kheirra Murphy is mourning the loss of their 23-year old.
“We loved her so much. She never bothered anybody. She was just a good person. I don’t know why she had to go through all that. I love her so much and I miss her dearly,” Kheirra’s cousin Kiancee Murphy said.
The family is still in shock just two days later. Murphy was found dead on the side of the road Saturday morning near Boardwalk Cove.
“This has definitely been a tragedy to the family, but we are so grateful to God that the person responsible has been caught and charged,” Andrea Murphy said, a cousin of Kheirra.
An arrest in this case is the only thing giving the victim’s family a sense of peace, as flowers and stuffed animals are placed where she was found.
“I saw her for the last time Friday night at 10 o’clock. I had the time of my life with her I’ll never forget it,” Nataskie Murphy said, who was one of the last family members to see Kheirra before she was found.
The victim leaves behind a large family, including her 5-year old son, a sister and her mother.
Jackson Police said they do have a person in custody, but are not releasing a name or charges at this time.
