Trial date set in capital murder of Hurley woman

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) – A Circuit Court judge has set an Aug. 22 trial date for a Hurley man accused of stabbing a woman to death during a December 2014 robbery in Jackson County.

A Jackson County grand jury indicted 37-year-old Scottie Street on a charge of capital murder in the Dec. 9, 2014. He was charged in the death of 55-year-old Frankie Fairley.

Street pleaded not guilty.

On Monday, The Sun Herald reports Street was shackled, chained and dressed in yellow jail jumpsuit. He did comment on the case.

Street is also accused of stealing Fairley’s van that police say he later used in a strong arm robbery at a D’Iberville convenience store the same day as the murder.

Fairley remains jailed without bond.
