Open enrollment begins for JMCSS magnet schools

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Jackson-Madison County School System continued their series of meetings Wednesday about open enrollment for magnet schools.

JMCSS magnet school open enrollmentParents met Wednesday with leaders at the Montessori School at Bemis to learn more about the programs the school offers.

Principal Melinda Harris addressed a room full of parents interested in getting their students enrolled.

“Meeting children where they are, progressing them as they need to progress and not comparing them,” said Melinda Harris, principal of the Montessori School at Bemis.

Open enrollment for all magnet school programs began Wednesday and will continue until Feb. 29.

Parent Information Meetings:

Open enrollment and magnet application process for the high schools will be held in the Ayers Auditorium at Jackson State Community College.

  • Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 11:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m

The Montessori School Information Meeting in the Board Room at the Board of Education School Service Center.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 3 12:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 18 at 12 p.m.

Academic Academy at Northeast Middle School Information Meeting:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m.;
  • Thursday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m.;
  • Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Northeast Middle School

The random selection process for open enrollment and magnet applications for the high schools will be held at noon on Thursday, March 17 at the Board of Education School Service Center located at 310 North Parkway.
