Police: Fairview officer cited in prostitution investigation
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Authorities say a newly promoted detective has been arrested after responding to a prostitution ad.
Metro Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron tells news outlets that 57-year-old Ronnie Williams, a detective with the Fairview Police Department, was issued a state misdemeanor citation Monday after police say he patronized a prostitute just hours after he had received his new rank.
Aaron says investigators were in the process of handing 23-year-old Benita Davenport a prostitution citation when she received a message on her phone responding to her online ad. Aaron says Williams agreed to pay $120 for sex and had $120 in cash in his pocket when he arrived at a Nashville motel and was arrested.
Fairview police said in a statement that Williams resigned the next morning. It’s unclear whether Williams or Davenport have attorneys.
