Weather Update 8:00 PM Sunday
This weekend will be the last mild day for a the next few days. Arctic air is expecting to plunge into the midsouth behind a cold front. The front has slowly been making its way into West Tennessee this afternoon. It should arrive into the area this evening and bring a band of thick clouds. We might see a light sprinkle but no widespread showers. Once the front moves through temps will fall into the 30s tonight and stay there throughout the afternoon tomorrow.
The chance for a snow flurry is also in the forecast for our Monday. They could start out as light rain showers scattered across the area but once the colder air catch up tomorrow afternoon we could see the rain start to transition into snow flurries. West Tennessee isn’t expecting widespread snow or large accumulations. The northeast corner of West Tennessee, along the Tennessee River, has the best chance for any accumulations. The most that could amount to the snow showers would be just a light dusting. The snow showers are expecting to be off and on throughout Monday afternoon and may still be possible early on Tuesday morning. Monday will also be a windy day across the area. Northwest winds are expecting to be steady between 10-20 mph with gusts nearing 30 mph. It will be a blustery and cold start to the workweek.
By Tuesday afternoon the low pressure system should be well off to the north and east that any and all precipitation should come to an end. Clouds may linger into the early afternoon but by Tuesday night, the clouds should clear and temperatures will continue to drop. Tuesday will be colder than Monday and Wednesday will be the coldest day of the week. Afternoon high temperatures aren’t expecting to make it out of the 30s until Thursday and overnight lows will fall into the teens and 20s.
