Committee members meet to discuss future of Jackson-Madison Co. School System
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson-Madison County School Board met Monday night ahead of Thursday’s school meeting to talk about “Vision 2020” and other changes.
Board members talked about the possibility of switching start times to school days and how many buses would be needed daily.
Also on the agenda, one of the obstacles for teachers will now be in the TNReady Assessment.
Schools superintendent Verna Ruffin said they have been training students all year to take the test online and they were just notified that online system is not going to work.
“We’ve been working very hard to make sure that the online platform was going to be successful, for our students. But now we go back to paper and pencil,” said Dr. Ruffin.
Ruffin said they will now be working with teachers on how to prepare students for the new format.
At Thursday’s meeting, they will also be addressing athletics and the zoning process.
