Booneville woman sentenced to 4 years for con scheme

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – A Booneville woman is going to prison for what authorities said was a con game that victimized an elderly woman.

Attorney General Jim Hood said Monday that 30-year-old Jessica Plaxico was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of false pretense.

Hood said in a news release that Plaxico contacted a woman and asked for money. The victim believed she would be repaid after a non-existent medical lawsuit was settled.

Plaxico admitted to taking more than $7,900 in the scheme.
