Man dies in Yazoo County apartment fire
YAZOO CITY, Miss. (AP) – The Yazoo County official says a 36-year-old man died in an apartment fire just outside the Yazoo City limits.
Coroner Ricky Shivers says firefighters from two departments were called to the Shady Lane Apartment at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Shivers says firefighters entered a burning apartment and found Landell Watson on the flood. He says CPR was administered, but paramedics on the scene pronounced him dead.
Shivers says it appears that Watson died from smoke inhalation, but an autopsy will be performed at the Mississippi Medical Examiner’s Office.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Yazoo County fire investigator and the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
