Caretaker accused of neglecting disabled woman, stealing property
JACKSON, Tenn. — A woman went before a judge Wednesday on accusations of neglecting a disabled woman she was hired to care for and stealing property from the woman’s home.
Kelly Mae Woodward is accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of the victim’s property as well as being intoxicated and leaving the bedridden woman unattended for an unknown amount of time between Jan. 6 and Jan. 7, according to court documents.
Officers say a spoon from the victim’s home tested positive for cocaine residue and that family members told them Woodward had ransacked the home.
Woodward is charged with willful abuse or neglect of an impaired adult and theft over $1,000. The judge set her bond at $3,000.
