Job listing for TN ready test causes controversy
JACKSON, Tenn.-A job advertisement from the company that oversees the troubled TN Ready test is raising eyebrows.
The Tennessee Education Association said Measurement Inc. posted a job listing on Craiglists asking for “no experience necessary” workers to help grade their standardized tests. The listing has since been taken down.
The TEA calls it troubling for teachers across the state.
“This test is tied to everything from student grades to teacher evaluations that stick with them for the rest of their career. to see the vendor advertise for people to grade these tests that no experience is needed is obviously a big concern,” said Amanda Chaney, a TEA spokesperson.
The TEA’s president has asked that this year’s tests not be tied to teachers’ records.
Today, the state education commissioner sent a letter to all Tennessee teachers.
