Milton Edward Strain III, 30, was sentenced Monday to 18 months in prison.

The conviction stems from an investigation that began in May 2015 when the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about a domestic disturbance. Deputies met with the caller who told them Strain had a grenade.

Officers found an improvised destructive device in the back of Strain’s vehicle along with firearms and ammunition, according to the release.

Bomb technicians with the Jackson Police Department reportedly found that the device contained high explosives. Further analysis by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives determined the devise was a bomb.

The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for West Tennessee’s Eastern Division in Jackson.
