Police find marijuana grow operation in McKenzie home

McKENZIE, Tenn. — Officers seized 14 pot plants during a search Tuesday that uncovered a marijuana grow operation inside a McKenzie home.

McKenzie pot bustJohn Barrett, 44, was arrested after police executed a search warrant and found the plants and about 18 ounces of loose marijuana at his residence in the 17000 block of Highland Drive, according to a release from the McKenzie Police Department.

Along with the marijuana, police also found a .38 caliber revolver, a large grow light and a humidifier system, two sets of scales and $1,400 in cash.

Officers found the grow operation inside a closet.

Barrett is charged with drug counts with intent to manufacture and sell, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, according to the release.

Deputies with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the search.
