Weather Update – 10:00 p.m. Monday

A Dense Fog ADVISORY has been issued for Lake, Obion, Weakley, Henry, Dyer, Gibson, Carroll, Benton, Lauderdale, Tipton, Haywood, Crockett, Madison, Chester, Henderson, Decatur, Fayette, Hardeman, McNairy, and Shelby counties until 9 a.m. Tuesday. Counties in Middle Tennessee are also under a Dense Fog ADVISORY until 8 a.m. including Wayne and Perry counties. Visibility in these areas will be limited to a quarter mile or less at times. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Fog will continue overnight into Tuesday morning. Temperatures will drop to the low and middle 30s by sunrise at 6:42 a.m. tomorrow. After the fog burns off, we might see a brief break of sunshine but overall, mostly cloudy skies are expected with scattered showers from morning through the afternoon. Almost all the precipitation should be rain but if you’re traveling north into western Kentucky freezing rain, or sleet, will be possible. Temperatures will warm up to the upper 40s and low 50s during the afternoon. Wind speeds will increase from morning to afternoon tomorrow with most of the viewing area experiencing speeds between 10 and 20 miles per hour. Wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour will be possible.

After the rain, high pressure will begin to build back into West Tennessee. This will gradually return clearer skies to the region by Wednesday night into Thursday morning. With mostly sunny conditions, temperatures could warm up into the 60s on Thursday and Friday with warm weather continuing into the weekend. However, we’re looking at another chance for rain returning this weekend so stay with the VIPIR 7 Storm Team for the latest updates to the forecast!

Have a good night!
