Lives saved as program causes Tennesseans to “Get Alarmed”
GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn.-New numbers show 129 Tennesseans were saved from fire over the past three years thanks to smoke alarms installed for free by fire departments through the state’s “Get Alarmed” program.
The Gibson County Fire Department is one of 450 groups across the state that has taken part in “Get Alarmed” since 2012.
During the last three years, the department has installed more than 2,000 smoke alarms for county residents.
“They’re very grateful. They really like the program and are very grateful and receptive. We hope that more people call because we know there’s a lot of homes without them,” said Chief Bryan Cathy of the Gibson County Fire Department.
