JSCC unveils new Military Student Center
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson State Community College Office of Veterans Affairs is unveiling its new Military Student Center.
Jackson State cut the ribbon Wednesday to celebrate the official opening. The center was made possible with funding from the state’s Veteran Reconnect Grant.
The center provides the college’s military students an area to associate with other military students in ways such as tutoring.
“A lot of students have PTSD and a lot of other issues that they have as a result of their service. So this gives them a quiet place where they can focus and connect,” said Kristine Nakutis, VA coordinator for JSCC.
The center also contains a lounge, computer room, conference area and snack bar.
