School officials release statement on house fire that killed student, injured another
JACKSON, Tenn. — Officials with the Jackson-Madison County School System have released a statement regarding the deadly house fire that killed a student and injured another.
School officials have confirmed one of their students was killed in the early morning house fire. They say another student was airlifted to Regional Medical Center in Memphis.
Crisis counselors are available for students and staff and will also be on hand Thursday, according to the release.
“Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the family as well as the JMCSS faculty and staff of these students,” the release states.
Sources say the student who died was enrolled at Rose Hill Middle School.
