Humboldt FD gets funding from community for new life-saving equipment
HUMBOLDT, Tenn.-Humboldt firefighters get funding from the community to help buy new life saving equipment for their department.
LED helmet lights are now on the gear of every Humboldt first responder. The lights can be used in fires as well as other situations.
Each light not only allows firefighters to see what is ahead of them in dangerous situations, but also warns those behind them.
“It penetrates the smoke where they can see a little better. And these have a little light on the back, so if someone is following them in they can actually see the other firefighter in front of them and what they’re doing,” said Assistant Chief Leroy Kail with the Humboldt Fire Dept.
All of the lights cost of more than $1,000, but a large portion of that money was covered by a local Humboldt business.
