Weather Update – 5:00 p.m. Thursday

Our Spring “teaser” is in full swing with temperatures throughout the 60s this afternoon in West Tennessee. Thanks to clear skies we should get a chance to spot the International Space Station at nearly a quarter to 7 o’clock tonight (6:40 p.m. to 6:46 p.m. in Jackson). Sunshine is still in store for much of Friday but conditions will become increasingly windy tonight and tomorrow with an oncoming cold front.

Tonight, temperatures will drop to the upper 40s and lower 50s making for a very mild evening. Winds will be from the south at 10 to 15 miles per hour. They’ll become stronger on Friday with gusts between 20 to 30 miles per hour. Sunshine will start the day with temperatures warming up to the upper 60s and low 70s. Clouds will increase during the afternoon and evening as a cold front continues to approach northwest Tennessee.

Skies will be mostly cloudy to overcast this weekend with mild temperatures continuing into Saturday and Sunday. Scattered showers will be possible Saturday but more widespread, and potentially heavier, rain is forecast for Sunday. Some portions of southwest Tennessee could get close to an inch of rain or more locally. Stay with the VIPIR 7 Storm Team for the very latest updates to this forecast.

Have a good evening!
