Man convicted of murder in 2010 shooting death of 80-year-old

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — A man has been convicted on a murder charge stemming from a 2010 robbery in which an elderly man was shot and later died.

Ivin Lee Robinson, 32, of Jackson was convicted Thursday of second-degree murder and second-degree murder while committing an aggravated robbery, according to a release from the Humboldt Police Department.

The armed robbery occurred Dec. 27, 2010, at the home of 80-year-old James Sims, according to the release. Sims was shot several times and later died.

Robinson initially was charged with first-degree murder. He pleaded guilty to especially aggravated robbery at the beginning of the trial.

Sentencing for Robinson has been set for May 2 in Circuit Court in Humboldt.

Jacquita Evette Ingram, 24, of Humboldt also is charged in the case. She faces counts of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery, according to the release.

Ingram is being held at the Gibson County Criminal Complex awaiting trial.
