Dustin Lovelace was charged in September 2014 with first-degree murder in the death of Wesley Conway, who was found dead in November 2013 of an apparent gunshot wound.

The state of Tennessee dropped the charge against Lovelace Friday morning in Decatur County Circuit Court.

“During the course of our investigation into the death of Wesley Conway, additional information has come to light,” District Attorney General Matt Stowe states in the release. “This new information has opened up new avenues of investigation which we are vigorously pursuing.”

The family of Wesley Conway released the following statement in response to the charge against Lovelace being dropped:

“When a family goes through something like we are it is a constant battle, struggle, and roller coaster. We are disappointed, but that’s just one of many emotions. We have been in contact with Matt Stowe and his office. We are wanting justice for Wesley but more than anything we want  everyone that played a part in his death, and we feel like things are coming together. We have faith in God and know that He is by our side. Our main concern is that the judge is patient with us and lets everyone do their job. Thanks to everyone that has kept us in your prayers.”
