Jackson NAACP branch starts “Water for Flint” project
JACKSON, Tenn. — A local organization is asking the community to help those effected by the water crisis in Flint, Michigan.
In response to the crisis, the Jackson-Madison County branch of the NAACP is starting the ‘Water for Flint’ project.
Flint’s water has been declared unsafe to drink because of lead found in the water system. The group is asking West Tennesseans to drop off cases of bottled water to the Jackson Fire Department administrative building on South Highland Ave. to assist with relief efforts.
“When things like this happen, a tragedy like this which is man made, we need to make up the difference,” said Jackson-Madison County NAACP Branch President Harrell Carter. “We need to contribute as much as we can as a community to help those young people there in Flint Michigan.”
Donations will be accepted at the Madison County Fire department until Saturday March 5th
