Union University hosts West Tennessee Evangelism Rally

JACKSON, Tenn. —  Sunday evening, there was an overflow of people at Union University looking to reignite their flame for sharing the gospel at the first ever West Tennessee Evangelism Rally.

“Well whats going on here is you have churches from all across West Tennessee that are here for a time of encouragement, training and really inspiration to be better at getting the gospel out to the people of West Tennessee,” Union University Professor of Evangelism Ernest Easley said.

“They’ll be equipped on how to relate to millennials as well as how to relate to their communities and get beyond the walls of the church, so that they can have a gospel impact in their own community,” said Executive Director of the Tennessee Baptist Convention Randy Davis.

“I though this would be a great way to get together with people of all different church backgrounds and people who know a lot more about this than I do, and just learn some things,” said rally attendee Ronda Baldwin.

Even though many of the breakout sessions overflowed with attendees, conference organizers have a solution.

“One of the sessions is full right now and they said there’s no more seats what do we do,” said Easley. “I said, send them to another breakout session they can see it later on the app.”

On March 15th people can watch all the videos of the evangelism classes on the Reaching App on the iTunes store and on Google Play.

Speakers call what’s happening here a reawakening for the church.

“To begin to put into practice the things that we talk about that we know we’re supposed to be doing,”said Baldwin. “But this is an opportunity for us to get together and talk about ways to actually make that happen.”

Professor Easley said he hopes the West Tennessee Evangelism Rally served its purpose as a step in the right direction for people who want to continue spreading the gospel.
There were more than 800 people attending Sunday night’s evangelism conference.
