Year-round school plan for JMCSS put on ‘back burner’

JACKSON, Tenn.-An element of the proposed ‘Vision 2020’ reorganization plan. Year-round school has been put on the back burner until the 2017-18 school year…that is according to Jackson-Madison County Schools Superintendent Verna Ruffin.

The original vision plan was to implement the extended school year for kindergarten through third grades at Isaac Lane and Arlington Elementaries, starting this fall.

Dr. Ruffin said she will instead use the time through the next school year to develop a plan that addresses the concerns of parents and employees.
