Mississippi schools prepare for Tuesday’s severe weather
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – School districts around the Hattiesburg area are preparing for and keeping an eye on severe weather that is likely to hit the area Tuesday afternoon.
The Hattiesburg American reports Hattiesburg, Forrest County and Petal school districts say they are watching the weather carefully and will make any closing or early dismissal decisions as needed.
Lamar County School District Superintendent Tess Smith said district officials will decide Tuesday morning whether to dismiss student early.
Other districts have decided close early Tuesday.
Covington and Lawrence county schools will close at noon.
Jones County schools will close by 1 p.m.
West Jasper School District is releasing students at 12:30 p.m.
