Former Selmer police officer indicted on child porn charges
McNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. — A former lieutenant with the Selmer Police Department has been indicted on federal child pornography charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Tony O. Miller, 36, of Finger was indicted Wednesday on one count of receipt of child pornography and two counts of access with intent to view child pornography, according to a release from the office of Edward Stanton, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.
According to the indictment, between February and March 2015, Miller obtained images and videos of minors, some younger than 12 years old, engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to the release.
An undercover FBI investigation identified Miller as a user of a website set up for sharing child pornography, the release states. Visitors could view, download and comment on other users’ material as well as upload their own.
Miller was a lieutenant with the Selmer Police Department at the time, according to the release.
If convicted, Miller faces a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 20 years on the receipt of child pornography charge. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years for each access with intent to view child pornography charge.
He also faces fines of up to $250,000 on each count.
The FBI and Selmer Police Department are investigating the case.
