Bomb Squad destroys old dynamite found in Madison Co. barn
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — An unnerving discovery Thursday afternoon inside an old barn led a landowner to call the sheriff’s office.
A property owner found 30-year-old dynamite on the floor of an old barn on Highway 70 less than a mile from Exit 87, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
The Madison County Fire Department, EMA and EMS responded along with the Jackson Police Department’s Bomb Squad, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Tom Mapes.
Rather than detonating the dynamite, technicians burned it instead. Mapes said the fire would last a few hours.
