Memphis, Middle Tennessee to play in Hub City
JACKSON, Tenn — There may be more than a month before the Generals throw their first pitch in the Ballpark at Jackson, but baseball fans will get an early treat next week with two Tennessee colleges bringing their game to the Hub City.
Memphis and Middle Tennssee are set to play in Jackson Wednesday, March 9.
Last season the Tigers played Oral Roberts at the Mariners Double-A affiliate stadium.
Coaches said bringing some Tigers athletics up I-40 will help further connect their Lambuth campus to the one in the Bluff City.
“Providing something for those students so those students can have some kind of student life which is similar to the students at the University of Memphis,” Memphis Tigers head baseball coach, Daron Schoenrock explained Monday. “I like it for the fact that it gets our players in a pro venue in a wonderful venue. A city that’s got Memphis Tiger fans.”
The Tigers and Blue Raiders will play next Wednesday night at 6:00 PM.
