Man accused of fraud in $29K home-repair job
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) – Harrison County authorities say a felon on probation for a felony bad-check conviction is now accused of home-repair fraud.
Sheriff Troy Peterson tells The Sun Herald a homeowner had paid 45-year-old Mitchell Ramone Shope nearly $29,000 in advance for renovations and has filed a complaint alleging Shope failed to complete the work.
Deputies arrested Shope in Gulfport on Monday.
Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain set his bond at $30,000.
The state Department of Corrections has placed a hold on Shope.
He is held at the Harrison County jail.
