2 more oyster areas reopen Friday
BILOXI, Miss. (AP) – Two more oyster areas will reopen for harvesting at legal sunrise Friday.
The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources says it is reopening Area II “A,” which includes northern portions of the Pass Christian and Henderson Point reefs and Hornets Reef, and Area II “B,” which includes Waveland and St. Stanislaus reefs.
The reefs have been closed since Dec. 11 because of red tide, the opening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway in Louisiana and excessive rainfall.
The department in a news release Thursday said the daily sack limit is 15 for tonging and 25 for dredging. All other current rules and regulations remain in effect.
