Assistant coach suspended over phone contact allegations
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – An assistant football coach in Knox County has been suspended with pay while the school system investigates allegations of inappropriate cell phone contact with students.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports Jaren S. Troutman has been suspended with pay since Feb. 25 from Hardin Valley Academy. He also has been a teaching assistant.
A letter to him from manager and discipline investigator Becky Wuethrich of the Knox County Schools Benefits and Employee Relations Department outlined the allegations. She said he’s accused of sending suggestive text messages and making inappropriate comments to female students.
Troutman has been employed by the district since August and is paid a base salary of $14,485.
His file indicates he must remain off school property and may not communicate with students or anyone connected to the allegations.
