North Side students gather 9K bottles of water for Flint, Mich.
JACKSON, Tenn. — Residents of Flint, Mich., soon will receive more water with a little help from Hub City students.
Members of North Side High School’s criminal justice class put together the water donation, packaging more than 9,000 bottles of water for what’s become a well-known crisis in Michigan.
School leaders say they’re proud of the unity and support this effort shows.
“It was just a ‘yes,’ and we went forward,” criminal justice teacher Herman Barnes said. “There was no holding back from the student body and staff, so it was a wonderful, wonderful effort on the whole school’s part — one tribe standing together.”
The shipment will be packaged with another donation collected by the Jackson-Madison County Branch of the NAACP scheduled for delivery early next week.
