Company swaps wardens in Nashville, new state prison

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The warden of a new Tennessee prison is being sent to lead a privately run Nashville jail.

The Tennessean reports private-prison company Corrections Corporation of America sent Warden Todd Thomas from Hartsville’s Trousdale-Turner Correctional Facility to the Metro-Davidson County Detention Facility.

CCA spokesman Jonathan Burns said in a statement that Thomas has successfully overseen several critical phases of facility start-up at Trousdale-Turner. The prison officially opened in mid-December. Thomas was named warden in March 2015.

In turn, Metro’s Warden Blair Leibach will serve as warden of Trousdale-Turner.

Burns says Leibach brings with him multiple years of experience managing state inmates. Leibach has served as the Metro’s facility’s warden since at least 2014.

A spokeswoman for Metro Sheriff Daron Hall didn’t immediately respond to comment by the newspaper Monday afternoon.
